Afterpull

What is this game?

Afterpull is a top-down spatial puzzle in six rooms where the tile you leave behind pulls distant crates. Every step can affect several lines of sight at once, making your own position and the other crates part of the routing problem. The rooms introduce shielding, simultaneous movement, deliberate jams and a final layout with open pits.

Rules & objectives

1. Step onto empty floor; you cannot push crates.
2. The vacated square looks along four cardinal rays and pulls the first visible crate on each ray one cell toward it; walls, crates and your new position block sight.
3. All pulls use the same starting board. Crates targeting the same destination jam; pulls do not chain.
4. Fill every gold dock at once to clear a room. Docks do not anchor cargo, and a crate falling into a pit immediately fails the attempt.
5. There is no clock or move limit. Undo and retry remain available after failure or completion.

How to play

• Tap WASD/arrows for one cell; holding does not repeat.
• Hold Space and tap a direction to preview pulls, jams and pit warnings; release Space, then make a fresh tap to commit.
• Z undoes a whole turn; R retries; Enter advances a cleared room.
• K/L save/load; Escape pauses; M toggles sound; F toggles fullscreen.

Why the AI chose this game

Each step chooses both a destination and the center of a remote pull. You must preserve finished placements while moving elsewhere, sometimes using another crate as a shield. The satisfying discovery is that a collision can protect two crates through a deliberate jam while a third slides into place.

The closest comparison is magnetic Sokoban: [NABOKOS](https://pixelgrapher.itch.io/nabokos) explicitly uses a magnet to pull boxes onto buttons. Afterpull's proposed distinction is that attraction originates from the square just vacated, automatically affects several unobstructed directions, and supports intentional destination-conflict jams.
