Game guide

What is this game?

BlueCraft is a small first-person creative voxel sandbox made with BlueEngine. Explore a finite block landscape with a starter cottage, grassy hills, trees and a sandy pond, then reshape it by breaking and placing blocks. A nine-slot palette provides unlimited building materials, so you can make a shelter, change the cottage or experiment with a small landscape without collecting resources.

The crosshair outlines the block within reach and names its material. Walk, sprint and jump around your work, pick a material directly from the terrain, and save a checkpoint to return to a previous design. The world is a compact 64 × 64 × 32 grid of one-metre blocks.

Rules & objectives

  1. Choose your own building project or explore the landscape. There are no required quests, score targets, victory screen or loss condition, and no survival, health, hunger or enemy systems.
  2. Aim the crosshair at a block within six metres. Left click breaks the targeted block; right click places the selected material against the targeted face. Mining does not consume a tool or earn an inventory item.
  3. The nine materials are unlimited: grass, dirt, stone, sand, oak log, leaves, oak planks, brick and glass. Water and bedrock are not available in the building palette.
  4. You can edit only inside the 64 × 64 × 32 world. The bottom bedrock layer is unbreakable, and placement cannot overlap your body or replace an existing solid block.
  5. Walk and jump to traverse the terrain. If you fall below the world or travel far beyond its horizontal boundary, the game returns you to the arrival area without a death penalty.
  6. F5 writes a manual checkpoint, and F9 restores it, including the world and player position. Restoring a checkpoint replaces changes made since that checkpoint.
  7. Normal play resumes your previous automatic world, saves progress every 15 seconds, and saves on a clean exit. Automatic progress and the manual checkpoint use separate save slots. Starting with --fresh or --seed N creates a world without automatic saves; F5 can still write a checkpoint.

How to play

  • W, A, S and D: move forward, left, backward and right. Move the mouse to look around.
  • Space: jump. Hold Shift while moving to sprint.
  • Left mouse button: break the block under the crosshair. Right mouse button: place the selected material against its face.
  • Number keys 1–9 or the mouse wheel: select a palette material. The order is grass, dirt, stone, sand, oak log, leaves, oak planks, brick and glass.
  • Middle mouse button: select the targeted material when it belongs to the nine-material palette.
  • F5: save a manual checkpoint. F9: load the manual checkpoint.
  • E: show or hide the control guide. Escape: pause or resume. F: toggle fullscreen.

Story & setting

BlueCraft has no scripted narrative, named protagonist or quest. Its setting is a compact, sunny block landscape with a wooden starter cottage, a meadow, trees and a pond. The player supplies the purpose by exploring and building.

Characters & roles

The game is viewed through a first-person camera and does not render a player character model, visible hands, NPCs, animals or enemies. There are no separately depicted characters to illustrate.
