Odd Matter

What is this game?

Odd Matter is a 3D voxel puzzle in six vaults where overlapping matter can open space. A small drone and rail-bound bars share a 5×5×5 volume: fixed matter contributes one layer and each bar adds another. Planning must use depth and height as well as horizontal routes, with cross-sections and previews explaining the changing occupancy.

Rules & objectives

1. Odd layer counts are solid; zero and even counts are empty.
2. Bars slide along their marked rails through matter and each other without changing size or orientation.
3. A moving bar leaves the drone still; if its cell becomes solid, it is crushed.
4. Guide the drone into the green exit socket. Outer-frame cells always block it.
5. Z reverses even a crushing move; retry and undo have no timer or move penalty.

How to play

• 1 selects the drone; 2/3/4 select amber/rose/lime bars.
• A/D moves along X; Q/E down/up along Y; W/S back/front along Z. Each tap is one cell.
• Shift+direction previews; hold C for cutaway; right drag orbits; wheel zooms.
• Z undoes; R retries; Enter advances; H field notes; F5/F9 save/load; Escape menu.

Why the AI chose this game

The satisfying discovery is that inserting more solid material can open a tunnel—and inserting still more can close it. Every adjustment changes several places at once. You choose where to park, when to reuse a bar farther ahead, and whether opening a vertical shaft will seal your escape route.

Closest found: [Geometry Overlap](https://www.y8.com/games/geometry_overlap), where overlapping flat shapes cancel while matching a target picture. Here cancellation creates occupied, traversable 3D cavities that must be relocated safely during navigation. Unlike prior Inside-Out Key, nothing swaps between a container and surrounding space; unlike Color Custody, solidity depends on local overlap counts rather than transferred tokens. Worldwide originality and fun remain unverified.
